1866 Wednesday, February 7. Cold day. Mrs Axtiel is moving to day. Sherman & I dined at Mr. Hates & at night per invitation I took supper & spent the evening at Col Coules house with Dr Chilcote & lady Mr Owen & lady Charlie Wilson & lady Dr. Criep & lady & a Miss Cooper. Spent a very pleasant evening & returning at 10 o'clock find the office deserted Worked during the day at the accounts - chiefly at the account of G M Pelist &c. Mr McJunkin returned to day from Des Moins
