My dear friend your welcome and rejoicing letter of the 22nd ult., at hand, and I assure you it was a great satisfaction and relief to me to hear both from you and my dear children. Thanks for your kindness in meeting them at the depot, and your cheering words and advice to them. I had already heard from them and although they write but very little butcrossed out nevertheless we managed to make out all they wrote and it felt so comforting to know they had arrived safe.
