  Remsen, Dec. 3, 1869.

Dear Cynthia,

I am just getting over some of my little sick spells and as I do not feel strong enough to be engaged in active service around the house I thought I would improve my time by writing a few words to you. Amelia Evens is year helping us for a few days this week so we are getting along nicely. Mary has been sewing for us about two weeks since you have been away so we have had a nice start with our dress sewing. The Cen. started We’d. morning and in the afternoon they killed the pig and today Mother and Thomas are salting it.
We received your letter to Anna Wed of course it was very welcome and read

in margin unclear Amelia has promised to come and help us with our serving once in a while this winter. We expect her next week - she and Sarah will make comfortable first. We had a letter from John a few days since - he wishes us to send Robbie when we have a good opportunity- he will perhaps go with John M. Jones, who is unclear - of his time in Arvonica? and is expected home for a short visit soon - Brother Eddie is about going to housekeeping - has invited Anna there Christmas -
