New Graefenberg June 7, 1856 Dear brother Robert;

 It really seems a long time since you left. I have missed you much and have tried to make my fancy tell me what you were doing. William said this morning that he guessed you were making fences. Was that so? Wm is kind as ever and tries to make it pleasant for me now I am alone. I enjoy myself very well, do not have the blues, walk some, and rest some, as my strength holds out am feeling better thank where Mother was here.

in margin: Shall try to walk over today if I can I'm most well of my cold. Goodbye now dear Brother love to yourself and all from your loving sister Mary
