Dear Aunt & Cousins

    Perhaps you will be surprised to receive a letter from me in California.  I came here last August.  Physicians advised the change, but I probably should not have come just when I did, had it not been for the sickness of a cousin here, who was dangerously ill.  My own health since sisters death has been very poor, I am better now and am getting quite fleshy since I came West, but I fear I shall never be able to endure much.  Last month I visited Uncle at Sacramento and while I was there he received a letter from you.  Before that though the Magazine they had learned of the death of cousin Cynthia.  I think she must have been as Ottie was a very great sufferer. to them how sweet the rest of Heaven
