116 838. COKE, R. Governor of Texas [left margin] November 11. 1874. His Excellency Richard Coke, Governor of Texas, Austin, Texas. Dear Sir:

                 On my return from the East I find your letter to me of October 1, 1874, giving your action in the case of Major Anderson 10th U. S. Infantry.  This affords me another occasion of which to [strike] I avail myself with great pleasure to offer to your Excellency my thanks for your courteous and considerate action towards persons connected with the Army in this Military Department.
                It is very gratifying for us to serve in a State whose Executive responds so readily to the claims of justice and fair dealing, and so far as he can, prevents the mere technicalities of law from working wrong to- as in the case of Major Anderson a worthy and meritorious Officer.

                            Your two dispatches of yesterday received.  I fully agree as to proposed disposition of Fourth Cavalry and Post at McClellan's Creek.  I think however it should be supplied from Sill and not from Camp Supply.  I think too, another Post should be established near MacKenzie's present Supply Camp.
         I will direct MacKenzie to move as soon as we can arrange for supplies and to report on best location of Post.
         I leave for Sill on Sunday or Monday next, to connect with stage at Caddo on Wednesday.  After that, communication for me should be sent to Sill
