                         I send you a copy of my recommendation this day mailed to the war department, I will write to Slocum M Anderson and Sheridan, and others in your behalf.  You must not expect to have any response from Sheridan, as he makes it an inflexible rule to promise no one.
  Logan and Cullum will both have a strong
