The students -- half of them Japanese Americans -- were charming and hard-working, the flowers were gorgeous, the mountains and ocean spectacular, the ethnic and cultural mix of the people fascinating. The Hawaiians by blood want this land back from Americans and Japanese like the Indians in Maine. I still work away at Sherwood Anderson, and teaching, and endless committees. Have a great 1978. W.
