The Stately Coco-nut & Plantans to be seen at every stop, in the distance Sugar Plantations, & all over the island covered with a dense tropical vegetation.

   There are two or three good Hotels in the Town, the charge about 2 to 2½  dollars for dinner.  The Sovereign exchanges for 5 dollars - Spanish dubloon 15 dollars.   The Dollar is divided into 15 old bits or 12 new bits & 3 ?.  5 ? one old bit or 75 ? = to 1 dollar.  When one Knows how to go to Market here, things are not ?.  The paramount drinks here are ? & Sanguaria the last made with Madeira, into water sugar & nutmen.  Good Havana Segars are scarce - but the Segars made on the island is of good tobacco, & very fair ones 20 for 3 pence.  A long cheroot is manufactured here & smoked principally by the Negros men & women.  Nineteen Twentieths of the people of the island are Negros & 'darkies' of different shades.  The negros appear to be a pretty ? race, full of fun & talk, eternally rowing each other, but seldom come to blows.  ? under a very ? form lasts here, but at 6 pm:  All the ferry or passages
