Dec. 26 [1911]

My Dear Jacobs,

On the whole things look [unclear] better to me here - still they may try to make us? some trouble - I wish you were here to talk with - as friends are handy these days. Sometimes I feel as if my usefullness is about over & then I feel as if the sun? might shine again. I wish you would go over Paul's financial matters & help him what you can - He may need it & that may be all we have left. I have always urged him to try to dispose of that matter in some way but he feels that it is all right- Still it might be done & the money could be handelled ?. You talk it over with him & advise him & help him what you can - and in the years to come I may be able to show my appreciation - but if I am not I not I know it would make no difference to you- for I know you are my friend and Pauls. Ever thankfully your friend.
