came to the "Cañon crossing" of the Medina R about 3 miles below where the San Geronimo enters the Medina - Crossing the Poliancers & Sans - but we are only some 10 miles from the "Presidio crossing" - there the Medina on K's Map is made to run too rapidly to N. fine cool & strong breezes from N by W. making it fine travelling - Camped - Herds of deer & flocks of wild Turkey - Colquon has some land this side of the "Cripley' Saw ? oyster shells on the banks of river - About ? there are banks of them so Mr James tells me - from which lime is made - Sand abut here stony & not of very good quality? is ald ?. The Lomas 'ridges' below the ? appear to be higher
