This was about noon, The young chief, his four attendants, & all the officers of government, both civil and military continued on their seats all that day and night, and the next day till noon. Then victuals were taken into the round house, and placed before the white seats of the civil & the red seats of the war chiefs. Boys served them with water. The young
warriors and all except the officers of counsel repaired to seven houses in the town, where victuals had been provided. But in case there were strangers present from other tribes, they might eat in the council house after the counsellors had eaten. The day after his consecration, at noon, the new chief arose walked to the door of the council house, and in the door said, Now I am going home. To which all responded waweh. Then the next in authority of the war chiefs, did the same, & received the same response? And thus till all the war & civil officers had left the house but one. Then he arose, went to the door, and said the same as the others, but without any response. Some of the war chiefs, next in rank, accompanied the young warrior to his house.
