  My Dear son C. is going to A. tomorrow so I'll add a line or two to Joseph's story but it is bedtime so I cant say much dont scold Joseph any more about writing particularly for you see he has as it were but one thing to write about and he spins that out so long that it is hardly worth the reading especially as you are coming home so soon I have a letter from Lucy but not one word in that or the one Ann wrote to you about Ann's coming home but I hope she is coming so as to be while you are at home.
 I sent a letter to them yesterday  I wrote to Ann to bring some cloth for you a coat and that I wanted you should have it before you come away so that you could get it cut out there at Bangor.   
 There is a tailor lately come into this town that they say is good a deserter from the British army one who had enlisted for life.
 Lucy wrote to me to tell you that it is fashionable for boys of your age to wear kerchiefs black or any kind on their necks with dickeys either pointed or round trim'd down over thier handkerchief.  My health is pretty good now Eliab has not been quite so well as usual of late but he is pretty ambitious about work rather more so generally than Joseph when Joseph first came home he was not near so strong as Eliab & C. said that Eliab would be worth almost twice as much this summer as he would but he is much stronger now but he grows so fast that he cant do so much else he says he calculated he eat like a horse sleep like a hog and awake like a hen - but you know he is always pretty good at hoeing.  If you have any ragged clothes or such as you wont be likely to want there perhaps you had better send home a bundle by Charles but it is probable that he will be down again after Ann when she comes, but I dont know that will be - am very sorry they did not write to me when she is coming
  I have got 8 young turkeys is'nt that pretty well considering &c.  good bye I'm very glad they did'nt put the vacation off till September - do you remember and heeded my injunctions about studying the Bible - how marks have you got?
