[Letterhead] Bartlett 2875 Cowley Way - 1302 San Diego, CA 92110

July 1, 1980

Dear Jack,

We're back from the Dorland Mt.

Colony today. A wonderfuly experience - only 5 people on hundreds of acres! Squirrels, rabbits, a deer, a fox, hawks, owls... and dozens of wild flowers among the oaks, cacti, scrub bushes. Kerosene lamps at night. So Paul and I enjoyed a month of uninterrupted time for our writing: he, on

"Leonardo's Journal" and I, on a book of

memoirs.

Among the letters waiting here was

yours with the good news about The Jack Conroy Reader - we're happy and want to order a copy! Bless Friday the 13th... wish we could be on hand at Court's to improve the sales count!

Family news is always a mix of

good and bad. Sorry Gladys is still ailing - our regards and best wishes to her, please!

  I'm grateful for your interest

in my book, Address in Time, and hope you'll like it. As you see, NEW LETTERS doesn't pay any attention to my work; even my letter gets returned!
