24 [Dart]mouth sprang out of one revival. Yale began without such influences but from the testimony of Dr Dwight its first president we learn that its life was feeble and sickly until a revival in 1802 shook the whole College and it seemed for the time that the whole mass of the students would press into the Kingdom. and nearly all the converts entered the Ministry. Brown University, Amherst College, Middlebury College & others which might be mentioned have passed through a similar history. Positive testimony from all these institutions is to the effect that their past usefulness and present prosperity have been largely due to the influence of revivals.

Then for a moment we must look out upon a still broader field. Where have our Churches come from? How have our strong churches been built up?
