3 is built round the refrain: And shall Trewlawney Die? Then 30 000 Cornish boys will know the reason why!

It had been a folk refrain. Hawker turned it into a poem in 1826. It reentered oral tradition. Cousinjack miners sang it: Then 30,000 underground will know the reason why!

At any rate someone who knew the "Trewlawney Ballad" or song, as literature or folksong composed the "Kitten" parody. More on this problem later.

I do not want to bore you with all the details. But to make a long story short I learned very much from Dick and Pete and plan to correspond with both.

I returned from NY via Akron. There I learned that Joe Glazer had been in Portland at a printing-newspaper strike rally and had had Ralph Chaplin come down from Tacoma to address the rally. Joe got Ralph's talk on tape. If all goes well I'll go to SF on June 5-8 for a library convention. Since I'll have some vacation time coming I'll return to Illinois via Tacoma. My plan
