So happy that you made the convention, and I appreciate the effort you made to write me in long hand when you might have been sight seeing. No, I never visited the Capital building. I saw it, and also the tomb - or monument - from a distance but not as I wanted to. The times I was there I was busy with other matters. The first time I was organizing the coal miners for the Socialist Party and the miners weren't interested in a pile of marble. They were eager for me to meet a young fellow - Johnnie Lewis (John L. Lewis) who was a hero in their eyes, and who was "going to be a big name some day". But Johnnie was out of town just then, so I missed him. The second time I was a delegate from the S.P. to a convention of the State (maybe Nat'l, I forget which) Federation of Women's Clubs. I had a paper to ready on the Socialist attitude

I've knitted a pair of bed socks for Maxine - Please let me know how they fit. They're an un-Christmas present.
