H. gave us, an account of his being made prisoner at San Antonio by General Woll, the sufferings experienced by himself & some 50 or 60 fellow-captives on their journey to the castle of Perote in Mexico, the inhuman treatment whilst there, his escape with Mr Morgan from prison, their [crossed out: hair breadth escapes] difficulties & dangers ere they reached Vera Cruz, their getting on board an American vessel in that port bound for New Orleans & safe arrival in Texas when the gallant Captain once more clasped & dear wife & fond children to his bosom.
