I must own that the Texan forest roads would be better for sundry stumps taken away & Macadamized. but the roads or tracks on the Prairie in dry weather are excellent. A friend of mine went the other day from Houston to Austin, then on to St Antonio & to the Nueces & from there to Galveston in a Buggy. Indeed with few exceptions the greater portion of the country can be traveled in pretty direct lines by Waggons and karts or how ? the settlers move onwards -
