SUNDAY, OCTOBER 30, 1864. Had Inspection at 10½ A.M. I received a box containing a number of books from home the other day

MONDAY 31 There was one or two boats came over to the lower post where it was fired on which awakened the camp & quite a number fired at it. Retreated up May River. Was mustered by the Col for the months of Sept & Oct.

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 1 Went to town with Lt Custer. Got my pass renewed. Called on Lt. Suitor to have details for work made from other Cos. as well as C He was willing and referred me to Col Brown Comdg DIstrict. Called on his Adjt Genl.
