SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 6, 1864. Marched soon after day light our Div in advance, and arrived within 2 miles of Racoon Ford at 12'M. Stoped & made ourselves as comfortable as possible by putting up tents. Considerable firing on the line.

SUNDAY 7 Went down to the river or rather to to our pickets. Could see rebs in the fortifications on the other side started after dark and came on the double quick to camp arriving about 8 P.M. pretty well tired out

MONDAY 8 Feel pretty tired after my march. They told us that Gen. Butler was advancing up the Peninsula & our move was made to keep Lee's forces on the Rapidan.
