Smith of Ill. is Colonel. A Company of the 2nd Cav. has come up to Phil. Kearney, and are going to run the mail. They propose to run direct from Phil Kearney to Fort Casper, which is only 80 miles distant. I hope we may get the mails more regularly then. The Col. brought a few letters: nothing that might be called a mail. 10th. The paymaster paid off the troops in the evening after dark.
