111 ditch & rampart, almost levelled with the ground & overgrown with weeds & bushes it was formerly a place of some strength, and the ditch is still 8 feet deep — after proceeding 4 miles we passed Couchenoy rift, which has 2 feet of water in it, 5 miles further is Oak Orchard rift affording from 2 1/2 to 3 feet, within 2 miles of three river point is another rift of rapid water—at 8 in the Evening we reached McGees at three river point and found it a most miserable Tavern,—the river Oneida which
