and Miss Ames our present Teacher was not aquainted with the people of unclear therefore we have not written you. Miss Sawyer said perhaps you would like to hear something about the school. The number of scholars in this school is 30. Three are white children belonging to the unclear family. 9 were received into school last fall. 5 could talk English 4 could not.

  I think they improve, They can all read in the testament pretty unclear. The studies of the first class is reading in the bible history of the United States Spelling with the definitions, Geography Arithmetic and Writing 2 class all but Arithmetic 3 class reading Spelling and other lessons in Spelling book 4th and 5th likewise. 
  The state of religion in this neighbourhood is uncommonly interesting and the people attend oftimes then they did in years past. etc Our last communion six joined the church one of whoom was my brother belonging to this school. We have lately heard from the Choctaw Nation They are blest with a revival. Twenty joined the church at their last communion and Eighty more are enquiring what they shall do to be saved. It would be interesting to see such a sight at Brainerd."
