1897 Fri. July 9 hot a.m. cultivated and hoed till 10 then went to see circus parade. p.m. Jno. Jo Eli Ike and I haying for Geo. Jo teaches Ralph Fay 1 hr every eve. Sat 10 fair hot Jno. Jo Eli. Ike and I haying Geo. all day and (except Jo) till 8:30 p.m. haying by moonlight, 2 loads after supper Jo went home to do chores. Sun 11 very hot a.m. great rain at 10:30 and drizzling all rest of day. F SS at 9 a.m. at Baptist Ch. Lake Ave. 11 present. Bed 7:00 Mon 12 cool. drizzling rain after 3 p.m. great rain in eve. a.m. I put on Paris Green. Eli set out cabbage plants. Jo put on Paris Green for Geo. p.m. 5 of us worked an hour for Geo. mowing away in top of barn. Geo. began cutting Wheat but rained. eve. Quartette. Tues 13 cool. very cloudy in a.m. gradually clear off. a.m. home. I mowed grass in orchard. kids picked currents etc. Ike mowed Benton's lawn. p.m. cultivating & hoeing at hill lot. Geo. cutting wheat. half done. We set up bundles ad turned his cocks of hay. First apple sauce new Astracans. see June 18 Wed 14 warmer. some cloudy. All 5 of us work for Geo all day
