I should not think your present situation not very pleasant and the worst of it is you will always be liable to unpleasant changes of location, rough lodgings and perhaps still rougher company: your employment taken in all its bearings may tend to discipline and strengthen the character especially where one is placed in a situation to exercise influence and control over others, this leads one to measure one's own powers and know how to govern and improve them - but it seems to me there are disadvantages not slight, the want of a settled home - the want of improving society, the want of literacy and advantages and of religious privileges.
