'Dear Samuel' popped in here last Sat. morn all of a sudden and gave me your letter, if letter it could be called. Much better than none however. Hope you'll not be so much hurried after Moses goes there, if he goes. Sam said family thought he could not pay his board, & I am thinking you'll hardly like to take him on those conditions, though I suppose he is a good little boy - intelligent and I should think would answer your purpose very well, I have got the flannel to make a pair of red shirts, and will make and send them soon as I can. Suppose tis hard season to sell them yet. What shall I do with my sheep? Almeda wants one, will buy it, but can't well winter the other two. I'd like to have Somebody buy them for I want money more than sheep. I must make haste and mail these letters as they won't go in season, so good bye. Affectionately Sis Lucy
