we took a sail to up river lot & had a good time. Abby Hill has taken a school in Brownville and Olive Sargent at Cold Stream Kilmarnock. we have just received a paper from Mrs. Child containing a notice of Elizabeth's marriage. Mr. Pomroy received ample testimonials of the affection of his people - they raised 12 hundred before he went with pledges of more if he should need it; besides 250 for his wife - presents of all sorts gold pencil, gold pen, portfolio, portable writing desk, trunk etc, etc.

[right-hand side] the prospect now is that Hay is going to be very poor & of consequence beef & cattle will be very low however there will be some way for us all to get along - Look up - had a letter from Joseph today they are all well. July 3rd
