when they came to have a third one in the family, every thought is taken & "sister may shirk for herself she's seen enough of it where she has been missing & should not advise anyone to board with a sister" &c. & she does not like the cold water, graham bread no meat etc. she has the whol discretion of the cooking & wash which I like grandly. I had 2 new Scholars come in the 1st Aug. (beside Mrs. Sleeper's girl) are 12 the other 11 pretty girls tuition 11,00 for both, their father is a painter by profession but I don't know whether miniatures or what particular branch one scholar has left gone to primary since vacation, I have done nothing about the globe yet, it is in my school room and I can use it as it is, & if I find the expense of the repairing would be considerable I shall. I forgot to say that I did not see Mrs. Parker but I did speak with Mary & I think that will answer the same purpose I told what you said, & asked Her if her Mother would not inform you whether she wanted a boy; she said certainly, her mother would, I presume she will write you about it. Mrs. Pomroy inquired with interest about the boys, seemed pleased that they showed much taste for Natural History, & if Isaac should there I think they would that some knowledge of him. It is almost school time & I must leave writing, do'nt fail to write soon, advise me what to do, when A. goes her journey perhaps I may not find a suitable place before, if not would you keep house, or go to any place merely for a time. Would it be proper and best at any rate to go to a boarding house? I must close so good bye all, give my love to Lee etc. E. A Rich.

The rum jug at Ms. Pomroy called it came safe A. is much pleased with it. I laughed in my sleeve to hear Mr. Thomas enquire at every stopping place have you a cork to put into this jug? & the answer wasn't no! but he found one before we got to Bangor.
