9 then to the Manchester Hotel to dine - after which sat in the parlor with some very talkative ladies till the carriage came to take us to the depot - at half past two - and soon Dunbarton's boring hills appeared and we were welcomed home. Dear father, mother & Jenny there, but no George - sorry not to see him but all is right and best I know -

Wednesday Sept 15 - This day left my dear home and dear friends for a new home in Illinois. O there was hope & fear, sadness & joy in my heart - Capt ?, Mrs Brown
