17th May 1850 My Dear Daughter As we confidently expect you to be here next week I must try to think up some errands to plague you with before you come -- & by the way Isaac sent to you to get a carpet now I think and Joseph thinks if you have not already purchas'd it that you had better not quite get at any rate -- My rag one is now done I have not yet seen it but doubtless it will look well enough for us -- A carpet you could get and send up after you go back if tis thought best -- but I should like to have you get some carpet thread when or no -- And -- If tis perfectly convenient for you you may get a shawl for me such as we talked of & pr of good kid gloves -- I have made a single bed but have got no narrow sheets for it and shall want some very wide sheeting or some quite narrow & sew it together the very cheap narrow cloth I suppose would do would'nt it but no matter whether I have it soon or not -- and moreover if Sam'l should from any course conclude not to have the cow this instrument to be null & void -- so far as to getting things you may understand by the grease spot on this letter that I have got a very sore finger have to keep it done up in a rag a ""surround" expect the nail will come off Mr Temple has been here two weeks past went away to Mr. Furbers today he is a real nice little man all the folks about town seem to be pleas'd with him I have just been to light old Mrs Cutts to bed She has been making a visitation at Uncle Henry's
