49 Hotel St. Inarco-- Wednesday 26th Bologna--Intended leaving Ferrara at 8 oclock but not being able to get post horses we determined to wait until 10 hoping they would arrive, during this time we went to the Library where we saw the tomb of Ariosto & his bust also some of his poetry as well as that of Tapo, it was in their handwriting also the inkstand & armchair of the former both of which looked well worn & particularly the latter, then saw a bible of 14 century printed with a pen & it contained small pictures & one particularly struck the attention of us all it was unclear taking the rib from Adam's side & forming woman the appearance was very singular indeed from thence to a church where I saw nothing of consequence then to the Hospital to see the prisons in which Tapo was confined for 7 years & 2 months by Alphonsa Hippolite d'Este some said he was mad & others said not that he was only in love with the sister of A & was imprisoned by A on that account
