Major Thomas Savage, his certificate concerning the praying Indians.

"These doe certify that I Thomas Savage of Boston being Comander of the English forces, at mount hope, in the beginning of the warre, beetwene the English & Indians about July 1675. and afterward in March 1676 in Menumese and Hadly. In both which expeditions, some of the Ch[ris]tian Indians Belonging to Naticke &c were in the army as at Mount Hope were about forty. and at Menumesse six men. I doe testify on their Behalf, that they caried themselves well, and approved themselves courageous, souldiers and faithful to the English interest Dated at Boston the the 20th of December 1677
