16th--Up early this morning owing to chatter of Mexicans rolling in bales of cotton. Found the waves rolling very high so that small boats could not go to or from the shore, no Ships will be able to leave today there being a "Norther" but not a very hard one comparatively.  After breakfast we took a walk through the principal streets, All but working people stay within doors through the heat of the day.
