I have received your note of this morning, stating in substance, that yesterday the General Council met to take into considertion, the necessity of bringing the business of the Cherokee people, here, to a close; and that therefore you cannot interfere with their proceedings; but when they have done with their business, you wil o inform me, and that then, no doubt, the people will hear me. From this I under you do not mean to give me an opportunity to address the General Council, until the business I wish to address them in, disposed of. Your design in this, cannot be mistake and I now inform you when the Council assemble, and I can ascertain the fact, Iwill be there; and address them on the subject for which they are assembled before this matter is closed.
