It is again warm & Sunny -- all well but Eva. she much better. after breakfast my children went to say Good Bye - to some little friends -- I called to see Mrs Rawson Mrs Hunt Mrs Page Dr Rogers -- at one the Omnibus drove up to our door and my party got in -- consisting of myself five children & two Nurses. I took one from Louisville this time named Anna Steward the other Nurse Ellen | It is again warm & Sunny -- all well but Eva. she much better. after breakfast my children went to say Good Bye - to some little friends -- I called to see Mrs Rawson Mrs Hunt Mrs Page Dr Rogers -- at one the Omnibus drove up to our door and my party got in -- consisting of myself five children & two Nurses. I took one from Louisville this time named Anna Steward the other Nurse Ellen Donenen has been with me seven years. Miss Garnet was under my protection -- she going to Chicago. Brother Faulds intended to come up with us but he was sick. Sister Belle Shreve gave Belle an Onyx breastpin and white scarfs. We reached Inianapolis safe -- but I lost my purse with twenty five dollars in it. we slept well in the Car and arrived at half past seven in Chicago | ||

When we arrived Mr Badger was there in Depot to meet us - and Mrs Garnet to get her daughter - we had two Carriages to take our party up to our house found everything nice and ready for us. our coloured Nancy delighted to see us and Henry too - we found a fine breakfast - oysters birds and sweet Bread - also steak - beside all the side dishes - our house warm with steam, and everything looking well . I unpacked, and after dinner went to the stores to buy some goods to send to Louisville - to fill an order called to see Sister Hilton - found her sick with cold. Walter Hilton & Willie Heiskell here to night playing Billiards - Belle sick sore throat - Ada too. I was to hear of the death of the childrens School Teacher, Mrs Groves. who died suddenly of congestion of the lungs. it is a great loss. Mr Badger opened a large cask of glass ware to night bought in New York. they are handsome - a beautiful toilet set also - Brother Sheridan sent children some pretty China Ornaments. | |||

It is a rainy ugly day - baby not well - indeed all the children are complaining. I have been busy all day - setting house to rights - Lilly Scannon called on my children -- Mr Badger & Octave playing Billiards - Eva has cold. | |||

This is an ugly day - raining & cloudy Father Badger, John Hilton and Horace came to see me - after dinner Mr Badger & I went out to Father Badgers found all well - it still raining. | |||

This is again a bad day - I went out to buy some Velvet Plush to send to Mrs Dr R Hunt in Louisville - Ella called to seee us - Miss Newcomb called for me to give me old clothes for the school of the ministry at large - Mr Heiskell here to night - Shreve & Sheridan sick with cold. | |||

Monday Nov 9 1863.
It is very cold to day -- all of us well. at 12 Oclock Mrs Looney called to see me. received a letter from Mr Badger. He disappointed at our not returning home. I called to see Mr Hunt. Sister Virginia came for us all to come to her house -- and stay untill we returned home -- we went at two O. clock -- after dinner I went down town to do some shopping.

Wednesday Nov 11th
It is a lovely day -- not so cool as yesterday. I went and said "Good Bye" to Mrs Page. Mrs Nock. Mrs Rawson. Mrs Tucker, Dr Rogers & Mrs Hunt -- I met Mrs General Grant at Mrs Sam Pages -- he is her Nephew -- she is there to stay all winter. Sister Belle & family stayed all day with us. I sent my children to see Mrs Tyle & Mrs Page. Eva been all day sick with indigestion -- all the children busy tonight pulling candy --
