Saturday Sept 19
I arose at six.  had all the children dressed -- took our breakfast and left the house at seven in a hack -- got in the car -- and there was Walter Hilton Alice & Florence all to say good bye to us.  Mr Bigelow also came down.  at half past seven we started.  traveled along very safely and comfortably.  at five O. clock we stopped at Indianapolis -- went into the sitting and remained an hour.  met Capt Hinckley who was very kind and assisted us. with our packages.  we took the sleeping Car and met Mr Tom Martin & his daughter Annie going to Louisville  we all went to bed and slept untill two O. clock, then the Conductor woke us up -- and we got ready to leave -- as soon as the car stopped brother Faulds jumped in -- and took us all into the Omnibus -- we crossed the river and in a little while stopped at My Mothers door -- she and my Sister Virginia stood there to receive us.  they were all delighted to see us -- we had supper and got into bed at four O. clock.

Left home on Sept 19 -- with children

Wednesday Sept 16th 1863

It has been intensely hot to day. I did not go out. made childrens red cloth cloaks. all my children went down to Ice Cream Saloon and treated themselves. after ten Father Badger came in -- also Walter. and Mr Bigelow. we played billiards -- received a letter from Pa in New York. Dr & Mrs Pitney called -- I sent my regret to Mrs Ludingtons party. we all better of our colds.

Thursday Sept 17

This is a busy day -- we all well -- hurrying to get off to Louisville just as busy we are as bees -- I spent most of the day down town shopping for presents. it raining most of the day --

Friday Sept 18
