You ought to see Carroll, he walks all about I believe: he is a little timid with us yet and has kept pretty close to his father and mother - John Eddie has just come from school and they are getting acquainted pretty fast. This is John Eddie's first school day this summer and he did not feel willing to lose the first. Mate and Eddie brought us a box of maple sugar - we had sent for some. But Eddie will tell you all about it. We wish you could be home to enjoy our visit with Mate and Carroll - we have enjoyed Eddie's being with us today very much he is at Lewis' now. Daniel Jones is very sick - he is not expected to live but a very short time now, Jane and Lewis were there to see him yes- terday.
