Friday, 11. Warm as usual-all quiet & no news from any quarter  No boats up nor down. Attended Battalion drill myself to-day. Troubled but little by the Genl to day. Sumner returned to his Reg [[Regiment]] for duty. Read some & slept a little. Am enjoying myself in a quiet way.

Saturday, 12. Warm as usual. Recd letters this morning-one from Sister Libbie & one from Sherman. Answered Shermans letter. Rode out as far as Harts with Col Peebles-had a pleasant time. At night called upon Col Risden. Genl came while was there. Things are becoming interesting..Damnably so! Expedition of boats from up river
