No. 5 Dr. Burton Oculist Soldiers Home Los Angeles Co. Cal. April 4, 1898. I certify that on or about January 27, 1898. at the request of Capt. Wm. L. Kneedler, Med. Dept U.S.A. I made an opthalmoscopic examination of the eyes of Major W.C. Shannon, Med. Dept U.S. Army -- The fundus of the right eye revealed an extensive Retenio-Choroiditis. there were many small patches of choridal atrophy in the region of the macula and three or four quite extensive hemorrhages along the line of the vessels.
