The Cherokee People in Convention assembled at Illinois Council Ground, decree, that, inasmuch as informa-tion concerning the decree of amn-nesty passed 7th instant, had not reached some of the persons affected by its provisions; that the time specified for their giving assurances for the future mainte-nance of peace, be extended  until further provision, shall be made by the Convention for the purpose;  the intention of said decree being solely to obtain assurances for the preservation of the peace, and not to endanger the safety of any person whatso-ecer.

They add, that, measures having been taken to inform those persons who claimed protection at the fort of these proceedings, the collecting together of their friends to secure themselves from violence was rendered altogether needless; - and that, as these pro-visions conform exactly with the General's wish, as well as with their own, they will prove to the General the determination of the united to prevent mischief and to promote peace.
