On the 30th we watered at the River [[unclear[] miles to the wash of Quitman & then passed through that [[unclear[] & decidedly delapitated old post with its white washed allobe walls and chimneys standing like monuments or tomb stones in an abandoned church yard. Thrunclear on towards & encamped with ten or twelve miles of Eagle Springs as the sunlight was fading and unclear - or lifted
