except in Scotland they have had some heavy storms.i was very sorry to hear of your mother's misfortune but I hope when the warm weather comes that she will come about again all right I have not heard anything from [[Urica?]] for a long time. Thomas writes to me very often, he is still with his cousin Johm H. I recd  a letter this week in that he complains that he has had cold on his chest and has been blistering and taking medicine and obliged to leave his work for some days while he was writing. In his letter about a month sooner he said that he had enjoyd good health since he was over.  I hope he will get rid of it before it affects the lungs.  My ink is too thick so I must not close it. Love to all from your Uncle
