Sinners of Mkd. do not understand it any more than St. Paul did before he became a Chn. He sd. he was alive without t law once; But how was he alive without t law? he was a strict observer of it externally. He was alive in his sins & was without a sense of t. spirituality of t law. He thought that he did keep t law, but t fact was he did not understand t law & was blind to its meaning & instead of fulfulling it as he suppoed he was doing only what all sinners do (ie) attend to t externals of t law as a foundation of Justification before G.; he was alive therefore His heart was bad he did good in order to prove unclear good.
