Nothing is more pleasing to the malice of those wicked Spirits then to see [illegible] wrong'd. And the power of the Enemy is such that having a new [illegible] a divine [illegible] to use his arts, he does this and much more than this amounts unto. We know by Scripture Revealation, that the Sorcerers of Egypt by their Inchantments caused many untrue and delusive representations before Shazroh and his Sorrts, Ex. 9.11, 12 and or 9. & we read of the working of [underlined: Satan with all power and signs & lying wonders] [illegible] his art is beyond [illegible] of men may pretend unto. he has perfect Skill in Opticks and can therefore cause that to be visible to one which is not so to another. and things also to appear far otherwise than they are. he has likewise the art of Sinning in the perfection of it & knoweth what may be done by colours. It is an od passage which I find the [underlined: Acta Erridisozzi?] printed at [illegible] that about thirty two two years ago an Indigent Merchant at Lyons in France was instructed by a Demon that with water of [Borang?] he might colour [illegible] so as to cause them to glisten and look very gay. See [illegible] to the[illegible] causes and reasons of things - whereby he is able to produce wonderfull effects. So that if he doth not form the shape of [illegible] personal afflicting [illegible] it is not for want of either will or power. They that affirm that God never did or ever will permit him thus to doe all [illegible] that is inconsistent, with [illegible].
