The Epist. ?

For the honourable Robert Boyle Esquire, Governor of the right honorable Corporation, for Gospelizing the Indians in New England. Right Honble, a few years since, I presumed to trasmitt to your honours, a few hystoricall collections, concerning the Indians in New England, especially the Ch[ris]tian or praying Indians, which script, (as things then stood) was a true account of that matter, And were I to write it againe (as thing were then circumstanced) I could not adde, or diminish; for the Substace of it. But since the warre began between the barborous heathen, and the English the State of Affaires is much altered with respect to the poore ch[ris]tian Indians who are muh weakned & diminished, especialy in the colony of Massachusets: in N England A true & impartial narrative wherof and of their doeings suffering & present condition I hard endevored to collect & here to offer strikethrough humbly /strikethrough for your honors perusal, who are under God as Nurssing fathers to this dispised orphan: the reason of this my undertaking is intimated in the first page, As it is defective is the inability & [unevenness?] of the penman of humbly I humbly intreat your honnors to pardon my boldns & weakness - & accept of the matter clothed in a wilderness [?] yet I trust agreement with truth & [?]. This God of heaven & earthe.
