Dear Mr. Conroy,

   Thanks for the letter.  Too bad about the piece for underlined:  New Letters.   I had asked David Ray to send it to underlined:  December,  but I thought  it might be too late.  Too bad about that too.  What about underlined:  Carleton Miscellany?  If not there, perhaps we should wait for the next issue of underlined:  December.  On the other hand, perhaps I could rework it & send it to one of the really scholarly mags:  underlined: Amer. Lit or underlined:  Amer. Quarterly .  Let me know what you think.  (I'll be back in New York by mid-January.)
