I am sending on the introductory chapter -- which I am afraid is not very satisfactory [although] I have taken great pains with it.
At the last minute I couldn't get a stenographer, so I have typewritten it myself. If it has to be done over again I am sure you will let me pay for it. I am not convinced that the "pragmatic" scheme was a good idea once I [wrote] I might have had a chance to talk it over with you in Pittsburgh -- however it will only be postponed for a few days to Chicago. Here's to the book!
