Dear Jack and Gladys
I have been trying to write you a letter for very many months but I have been so fogged up with medicine to keep me breathing that I was unable to do anything much else Also my hernias started fighting my emphesema [sic] and it has been a very rough year up to now. Like Judy Kapshenk I seemed to be headed for the junk yard However with the help of seven doctors I went in for repairs Spent two weeks recovering from my patched up transmission and my carburator [sic] is working better than it has for five or more years. But I damn near died of pneumonia before I came home To top things off I had my left ear rebuilt by having an enlarged skin cancer removed by dry ice so it is all wrapped up in gauze and tape that has to be changed every 24 hours. It seems to be mending well so that I wont look like a broken down prize fighter. Anyway it is no good for hearing Hope and trust that you are aging happy and healthy and Gladys likewise. Lu has a few mixed up aches and pains but she keeps doing too many things at high speed and I've stopped trying to slow her down
