Dear Jack:
    I want to congratulate you on [[underlined:  The Jack Conroy Reader]].  The appreciative response to it must be gratifying to you.  I have followed with great joy the reviews, from the one in [[underlined: Publishers Weekly]]  (which mistakenly gave Kentucky credit belonging to Missouri) to Studs Terkel's beautiful job.  Enclosed is the one from today's Los Angeles [[underlined: Times]].
    Congratulations also on the new editions of [[underlined: The Disinherited]] !  You have achieved, among other things, the one dream all writers share, I think -- the dream of producing a classic.  Immortality - she is sweet!
    Barbara joins me in wishing you continued success.  May the Conroy reputation grow and grow and grow - that justice may be seen to be alive and well in the world.
    Our best, too, to Gladys.
